Gary (Empty Book) Justice left Toronto at age seventeen to tour Canada with a Halifax based hard rock band called Threshold. In his twenties and thirties he was a full-time music professional in the roles of bassist, singer, percussionist, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and recording studio owner.
He has held memberships in the Audio Engineering Society of America, SOCAN, the American Federation of Musicians, and the Screen Composers Guild of Canada. He has been a project funding jury member and mentor at FACTOR and the Harris Institute of Recording Arts.
His works have ranged from R&B/New Soul, pop music, progressive rock and rockabilly to ambient composition and devotional Indian Music. He has performed and recorded in the most humble and highest venues, played with/produced recordings for over one hundred music artists including Larry Gowan, BB Gabor and Alanis Morrissette's twin brother Wade Imre Morrissette.
Gary produced Irshad Manji's international bestseller audio book "The Trouble With Islam", and composed music for museum exhibits at the Bata Shoe Museum, Phoenix Science Centre and the Detroit Automotive Hall of Fame. He has written music for several films including "Knock Off" starting Jean Claude Van Damme.
In 1999 Gary undertook studies with a Korean Zen Master, followed by three Indian Lineage Gurus – a ten-year period of reflection and reformation. His more recent pursuits have been focused on yoga and Hindu/Buddhist devotional music, and "pure sound" healing processes.
